Powell’s Bookstore - Workers at Powell's Bookstore in Portland, OR,
are represented by the longshore and warehouse workers, local 5. ILWU #5
has its own website, and if one goes there first and links to Powell’s
online store, 7.5% of the purchase price will go to the union’s strike
fund. What a provision to bargain in a contract! For those of us
who still buy the real deal in addition to ebooks, there is still one
great independent book store out there, with a terrific selection of
used and new titles including labor and social justice – and unionized
employees!
